Rhythmic Sequencing
In collaboration with Revel Architecture & Design, Lesley Ray designed a luxury office embodying this Confidential Venture Capital Client's mission of empowering companies in healthcare technology.
DNA, at the core of all living organisms, provides a structural membrane for carrying specific genetic information. Comprised of four nucleotide bases — Adenine (A), Thymine (T), Cytosine (C) & Guanine (G) — DNA sequencing determines the exact arrangement for each molecule. This unique order, or rhythm, presents an organic geometry to be interpreted architecturally.

Patterns abstracted from DNA sequencing signal rhythmic movement, a key driver in the overarching design concept.
The custom wood portal intersects the space with carved channels along each side to act as ADA-compliant handrails. Each channel houses alternating recessed panels embodying the rhythmic geometry.
Strategic openings are placed along the portal to frame views of the Bay.
